CS2 update November 5, 2026: Retakes and map scripting
The November 5, 2026 CS2 update speeds up Retakes defuses and rounds, adds chicken tricks on ping, and reworks the map scripting API.
The November 5, 2026 Counter-Strike 2 update changes Retakes mode, makes small tweaks to pet chickens, and reorganises parts of the map scripting API. The notes do not mention any skins or cases.
Retakes mode changes
Bomb defusal in Retakes now finishes instantly when two conditions are met: there is enough time left in the round, and no active utility remains that could stop the defuse.
Freeze time and the round restart delay in Retakes are also reduced, so rounds should start again sooner.
Pet chicken changes
Two changes affect pet chickens:
- Pinging a pet chicken during freeze time requests a trick from it.
- Pet chicken names are no longer displayed when the customized item text game option is set to hidden.
Map scripting additions
Mapmakers get several new tools:
- Instance.Precache now accepts entities to precache.
- A new top level export, Entities, with Entities.Spawn.
- Instance.OnBotControl, plus CSPlayerController.IsControllingBot and CSPlayerController.GetControlledBotPawn.
- CSPlayerPawn.Reset.
Map scripting moves and renames
Several existing methods have moved or been renamed:
- Instance.ConnectOutput moved to Entities and now accepts a config object.
- Instance.DisconnectOutput moved to Entities.
- Instance.EntFireAtName is now Entities.FireInput.
- Instance.FindEntitiesByName is now Entities.FindByName.
- Instance.FindEntitiesByClass is now Entities.FindByClass.
- Instance.EntFireAtTarget is now Entity.FireInput.
The moved and renamed methods remain available in their original location but are deprecated. Instance.FindEntityByName and FindEntityByClass are also deprecated.
Calling a method on an invalid (removed) Entity now reports that the Entity is invalid. ConnectOutput now logs a warning when the target has no output with the given name.
