Can you trade up trade-locked skins in CS2?
Short answer: Yes. Skins bought on the Steam Market or received in a trade that still have the 7-day trade hold can be used in a trade up contract. The item you receive gets the longest remaining trade lock of your inputs, so you can craft immediately but cannot sell or trade the result until that lock expires.
What this means in practice
- You can buy 10 inputs on the Steam Market and craft the same day.
- The result is locked for up to 7 days – you cannot list it or trade it before then, so prices can move against you.
- Items bought on third-party markets (CSFloat, Skinport, Tradeit) arrive via trade and get the same 7-day hold once in your inventory.
- Market-restricted (non-tradeable) items cannot be used at all.
Plan around the lock
Use the 7-day price trend in the calculator (shown on every outcome) to judge whether the output’s price is stable enough to hold for a week, and prefer contracts with a high chance of profit over ones that rely on a single expensive outcome.

Does the trade up result have a trade lock?
Yes, equal to the longest remaining lock among the inputs. If none of the inputs is locked, the result is tradeable immediately.
Can I trade up skins I just bought on the Steam Market?
Yes. The contract accepts them; only the result stays locked for the remaining hold.
